Barbie, Sindy And Action Man

That this House expresses its concern at the report from the World Development Movement revealing that Barbie and Sindy dolls, Action Man and Disney toys, imported from China and Thailand, are produced in factories by workers earning poverty wages and enduring appalling conditions; believes that no responsible company should import from such factories and parents should not purchase the toys unless satisfied regarding their manufacture; notes that Sainsbury's, the Gap and B&Q are developing monitoring systems to safeguard them against purchasing from slave labour factories; and calls upon other companies and retailers in the United Kingdom to do likewise.
