That this House notes that speed is a contributory factor in one third of all road accidents, resulting in about 1200 fatalities per year; welcomes the publication by the Parliamentary Council for Transport Safety of, Taking Action on Speeding; believes this is to be a useful contribution to public debate; and calls on the Government to respond in detail to the recommendations, particularly that calling for a comprehensive strategy to reduce speed-related accidents on the roads.
