National Childminding Association
EDM number 245 in 1996-97, proposed by Alan Meale on 26/11/1996.
That this House is aware that childminding is the most widely used and widely available form of care for young children in Britain with over 350,000 children offered quality care and education by registered childminders every day; notes that childminding is the most popular choice of working parents because of its accessibility, flexibility, and continuity of care for children from babyhood to school age and beyond; congratulates the National Child Minding Association on its excellent campaign to highlight the rights of children to high quality care and education, the right of choice for parents and the rights of registered childminders to have their work valued by society and government; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to agree to the National Child Minding Association's call for a national programme of investment and development in childcare and education in Britain.
