University Teachers Pay

EDM number 219 in 1996-97, proposed by David Steel on 20/11/1996.

That this House considers that, coming on top of the squeeze on Scottish university finances, the current pay offer of 1.5 per cent. for university teachers is insulting as it constitutes a cut in pay in real terms; and calls for the establishment of an independent pay review body for this important sector of national life.

This motion has been signed by a total of 27 MPs.
