Nottingham Health Authority Underfunding

That this House acknowledges the underfunding of health services in the Nottingham Health Authority Region, due to funding at 97 per cent. of national average; recognises that this is a poor enough figure but notes that the presence of major teaching hospitals should lead to funding at over 100 per cent. of the national average; further notes the comments by Sir David White, Chair of Nottingham Health Authority, that there is a funding shortfall of ú11 million; is concerned that this is resulting in the growing waiting lists with some hospitals cancelling all elective surgery and only dealing with emergencies; and therefore calls on the Secretary of State for Health to take immediate steps to ensure that people in the Nottingham Health Authority area do not suffer worse health care than they need because the Government have not tackled this anomaly in funding.
