Scottish Nfu Appeal To European Commissioner Fischler
EDM number 189 in 1996-97, proposed by Malcolm Bruce on 13/11/1996.
That this House condemns the Government for being so unresponsive to the pleas of Scottish farmers that the Scottish NFU has been forced to seek the support of the European Agriculture Commissioner to put pressure on the British Government to act in Scottish interests by implementing the selective cull as agreed at the Florence summit in June; and notes the powerlessness of Scottish Tory ministers to act in Scottish interests, aggravated by the added impediment of the Scottish Secretary's anti-European credentials.
