Reduced Earnings Allowance (No. 2)
EDM number 147 in 1996-97, proposed by Allan Rogers on 06/11/1996.
That this House notes that legislation passed last April removed the right of claimants to the reduced earnings allowance; notes that this change affected almost 250,000 people throughout Britain; notes that the effect of removing this allowance was a loss of over ú30 per week at pension age; welcomes the tribunal decision made in Cardiff on 22nd October which found that Tom Brunker, a retired Rhondda miner, should still be paid the reduced earnings allowance; and calls on the Government to accept the Tribunal's decision and restore the reduced earnings allowance.
