Landmines

EDM number 106 in 1996-97, proposed by Lawrence Cunliffe on 30/10/1996.

That this House applauds the Manchester-based Co-operative Bank for its humanitarian approach and initiative in calling on all United Kingdom banks to ban the financing of landmines which kill or maim 24,000 people every year worldwide; and calls upon all banks to put aside commercial interests and rivalry and to sign a declaration to help end worldwide financing of landmines.

This motion has been signed by a total of 80 MPs.
