That this House is delighted to note the anniversary this month of 50 years of specialist BBC children's programmes on British television; applauds the programmes' makers and television controllers on all channels for their commitment to securing the interests of children in their broadcast output; offers particular congratulations to the BBC for its role in maintaining first class British-made educational and entertainment children's programmes; is delighted that they are now attracting new and large audiences; further congratulates the BBC for making available special selective screenings of BBC Children's Television to honourable Members during May, June and July; and calls upon the BBC and all other broadcasters to continue to give specific priority to high-quality, British-produced children's programmes.
