Closure Of Traffic Commissioners Offices

EDM number 973 in 1995-96, proposed by Gwyneth Dunwoody on 10/06/1996.

That this House is alarmed at the precipitate and irresponsible decision to close the Traffic Commissioners offices in Manchester and Cardiff; and believes that this decision will totally dissipate efforts to control heavy goods vehicle and public service operators in the interest of road safety, will undermine the joint efforts of police forces and traffic commissioners to protect all road users, and highlights the need for better co-ordination and enforcement.
