TEACHERS' PENSIONS

EDM number 97 in 1995-96, proposed by Ieuan Wyn Jones on 22/11/1995.

That this House condemns plans by the Government to privatise teachers' pensions by bringing in a private contractor to administer the Teachers' Superannuation Scheme; notes that the Teachers' Superannuation Scheme has been successfully administered in its current form since its inception; further notes that out of the 133 organisations consulted by the Department of Education and Employment, 128 did not support privatisation; and calls on the Government to abandon this scheme forthwith.
