Deportations From The Baltic States
EDM number 966 in 1995-96, proposed by Paul Flynn on 06/06/1996.
That this House remembers the first mass deportation from the Baltic states by Stalin on 14th June 1941; recalls that one in 10 people in the three Baltic nations were either killed or deported in the Soviet regime's ethnic cleansing purge; and calls on Russia, as successor to the Soviet Union, to acknowledge the crime of genocide perpetrated against the Baltic peoples and to publicly announce its sorrow and remorse.
