Murder Of Fayed Shiraz Miah

That this House is shocked by the murder of 35 year-old Fayed Shiraz Miah, a British resident since 1975, who was beaten to death on 9th May by customs officials at Dhaka airport for refusing to pay a bribe, immediately after arriving on a KLM flight to collect his wife and five children, who are all British citizens, who had been on a family visit; is concerned that there appears to have been no protest to the Bangladesh government about these events; notes the deeply-held concern among Bangladesh residents and British citizens of Bengali origin in Britain; and calls upon the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to immediately make the strongest possible protest to the Bangladesh government and demand that it takes steps to ensure the safety of British citizens and residents when visiting Bangladesh while vigorously pursuing the Bangladesh government to bring to justice the customs officers responsible for the murder of Fayed Shiraz Miah.
