Proforma Sales Invoices

EDM number 922 in 1995-96, proposed by Matthew Taylor on 21/05/1996.

That this House notes with concern the current practice by some companies of sending out pro forma sales invoices as a form of sales promotion; notes that these invoices are designed to look like a genuine invoice which may lead people to pay for goods that they have never ordered at prices vastly in excess of market rates; notes that some schools have had to be warned to watch out for such invoices; considers this practice a deliberate attempt to mislead; and calls on the Government to make this practice illegal as a matter of urgency.

This motion has been signed by a total of 24 MPs.
