Asil Nadir And Donations To The Conservative Party

That this House calls upon the Conservative Party to uphold its repeated pledges to return donations to the administrators of Polly Peck previously given to them by disgraced Turkish Cypriot fugitive Asil Nadir upon the production of independent evidence, now disclosed by Touche Ross, that its source was of a dubious and legally questionable nature; calls upon Her Majesty's Government to exercise their power in a more conscientious effort to bring him to justice in a British court of law in order that some retribution may be dealt on behalf of the many workers and businesses who suffered as a result of his commercial malpractice; and urges the Conservative Party to follow the example of the Labour Party in publicly disclosing the sources of donations, in line with the principles of the Nolan Report.
