British Council In Tblisi

That this House congratulates the British Council on opening an office within the Tblisi State University in the Republic of Georgia; notes the excellent work carried out by Maya Kiasashvili, the British Council representative, in the most difficult of circumstances; appreciates the assistance of Her Majesty's Ambassador Mr Stephen Nash in having this office established; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to reverse its decision to cut the British Council's budget and to ensure that adequate funding is provided to improve and expand the excellent service provided by the British Council abroad.
