Conduct Of The Honourable Member For Southport

That this House is extremely dismayed at the actions of the honourable Member for Southport who prevented the Wildlife Bill from completing its Committee Stage on 8th May, thereby jeopardising the progress of the Bill; is concerned that approximately 300 sites of special scientific interest are damaged every year; and that much of this damage is allowed to continue due to loopholes in the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and notes that these loopholes would be closed by the current Wildlife Bill; and therefore requests that time is made available for the passing of the Wildlife Bill, which has the support of over 300 honourable Members and has been welcomed by both the Minister, the honourable Member for Hertsmere and Opposition spokesmen.
