Crofting Counties Agricultural Grants Scheme

EDM number 852 in 1995-96, proposed by Ray Michie on 08/05/1996.

That this House is greatly concerned that the Government proposes to terminate the Crofting Counties Agricultural Grants Scheme without a viable alternative in place to financially help the unique problems faced by crofters throughout the Highlands and Islands; notes that the Countryside Premium Scheme will disadvantage crofters because it ignores regional variations; believes that the Government's aim of value for money will only result in further depopulation; and believes that there can be no justification for undermining one of the cornerstones of crofting support which delivers environmental benefits.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs.
