Target For The Millennium

EDM number 781 in 1995-96, proposed by Jeremy Corbyn on 24/04/1996.

That this House is becoming more concerned at ever more grandiose proposals for huge buildings to commemorate the millennium; recognises that in every city there are large numbers of young homeless people and people living in appalling conditions which affect all aspects of their lives and in particular leads to under achievement by children; and therefore urges the Government to start an urgent buildings and purchasing programme to provide homes at affordable rent by local authorities so that in the twenty first century the housing crisis of the twentieth will be a bad memory.

This motion has been signed by a total of 28 MPs.
