Credit Card Telephone Sex Lines

EDM number 729 in 1995-96, proposed by Ann Winterton on 16/04/1996.

That this House is concerned over the recent growth in credit card telephone sex services which imitate 0898 lines but evade the advertising and content controls that apply to these; questions the role of the United Kingdom clearing banks who provide their payment facilities to the companies behind these sex services so that call payments can be processed; and calls on the banks to re-examine their policy towards the provision of these services.
