Farming And Food

EDM number 722 in 1995-96, proposed by Barry Sheerman on 03/04/1996.

That this House calls on Her Majesty's Government to institute a wide ranging independent inquiry into the farming and food industry; requests that the inquiry will bring forward proposals to ensure that United Kingdom consumers have access to high quality, pure food; further requests that the inquiry will consider the welfare of farm animals and put forward proposals to ensure that they are treated humanely and with dignity; and condemns unreservedly the barbaric and disgraceful conditions that millions of farm animals suffer daily in the United Kingdom.

This motion has been signed by a total of 26 MPs.
