Supply Of Liquid Gas To Transco

That this House is alarmed that the overnight supply of liquid gas to Transco by British Gas has been charged at 148 pence per therm, compared to a prevailing spot price of 10 pence per therm; believes this is an example of the profiteering behaviour encouraged and enabled by the liberalisation of the gas market; notes that this over-charging was later recognised by OFGAS who persuaded British Gas to reduce its charge to 49.8 pence per therm; and calls on the Government immediately to review the workings of the gas market and to suspend any further moves towards liberalisation of gas supplies.
