That the House warmly congratulates Mel Gibson and all connected with the making of Braveheart on the triumph of the film in the Academy Awards; is delighted by the international recognition given to a film about a key period in Scottish history; believes that this success will encourage further interest and investment in Scottish filmmaking; and further believes that Braveheart, about Scottish patriot William Wallace, is a big film about a big idea and a very worthy five times Oscar winner.
