Intimidation Of Taiwan By Peoples Republic Of China

EDM number 645 in 1995-96, proposed by John D Taylor on 20/03/1996.

That this House deplores the People's Republic of China's military exercises off the coast of Taiwan, which are an attempt to intimidate the voters and influence the result of the Taiwanese General Election; welcomes Taiwan's decision to become the first country in that region to introduce democracy voluntarily; congratulates Taiwan on being steadfast in its determination to hold elections on 23rd March; and urges this House to support the Taiwanese people in their quest for democracy.
