ST GEORGE'S HOSPITAL, TOOTING
EDM number 627 in 1995-96, proposed by Tom Cox on 18/03/1996.
That this House congratulates the recent World in Action programme on St George's Hospital, Tooting, which clearly endorsed the views of local residents, senior members of the hospital staff and hospital trade unions that services and facilities are clearly decreasing due to the lack of adequate funding being given to this hospital; notes that this problem will clearly continue in view of the latest financial figures that show that the St. George's Healthcare NHS Trust will lose some ú2,000,000 in the coming financial year; further notes that this hospital serves the parliamentary constituencies of Tooting, Battersea, Putney, Mitcham and Morden, Wimbledon and Streatham; and calls on the Secretary of State for Health to enter into urgent discussion with the local honourable Members and with the Chief Executive of St. George's Hospital so as to guarantee adequate funding to this hospital so that it can continue to provide medical care for people who rely on the National Health Service for their hospital care.
