Patent Office And Welsh Health Common Services Authority

That this House commends the Patent Office and Welsh Health Common Services Authority for the contribution which they make; notes the Government's intention to contract out some of the services which is provides; condemns the Government for causing a great deal of insecurity and uncertainty for the people who work in these offices; further notes and condemns the refusal of Department of Trade and Industry Ministers to hold meetings with the trade union representatives of the Patent Office to discuss the future of the 960 employees; notes the lobby of Parliament by Patent Office employees on 20th March 1996; and calls upon the Government to scrap plans to contract out wholesale the services of the Patent Office and Welsh Health Common Services Authority.
