NORTH EAST WALES EDUCATION FORUM'S "CHARTER FOR EDUCATION".
EDM number 551 in 1995-96, proposed by Martyn Jones on 29/02/1996.
That this House supports the North East Wales Education Forum's campaign to promote education and welcomes its Charter for Education and fully supports the wishes of the Charter to raise the standards of education in North East Wales through increased funding, adequate provision of books, equipment and resources, improvements to school buildings, the need for financial resources that would permit the alteration of class size appropriate to the needs of the learners, adequate provision for children with special educational needs, pre-school/nursery education available for all, access to further, higher and adult education irrespective of age or means and adequate support services; furthermore agrees that local government reorganisation ought not to be in any way harmful to education provision; recognises that, thanks to 15 years of Conservative neglect, such reasonable requests are not presently commonplace, which is an unacceptable situation; and therefore welcomes the Labour Party policy on education.
