Hong Kong Ethnic Minorities

EDM number 546 in 1995-96, proposed by Menzies Campbell on 29/02/1996.

That this House calls upon Her Majesty's Government to gr ant to the approximately five thousand ethnic minority non-Chinese living in Hong Kong British citizenship and the right of abode in the United Kingdom as a recognition of their contribution to the life of Hong Kong and their loyalty to the Crown, and in order to ensure that after 1st July 1997 they do not become stateless.
