Regional Control Of National Lottery Grants

That this House expresses dismay but no surprise at the Millennium Commission's unimaginative decision to stage the Millennium exhibition in London; regrets that this decision reflects a lack of knowledge and interest in the culture, sports, arts and heritage of the rest of the United Kingdom, where the majority of the British people live and where most new creative talent develops; and calls for grant monies from the National Lottery in future to be retained in the regions and countries of the United Kingdom in which lottery tickets are sold, and distributed by local committees so that each region and country benefits from the National Lottery in proportion to their contribution to it.
