Hong Kong And Shanghai Banking Corporation

That this House notes the massive profits announced by the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation but regards with concern reports that HSBC subsidiary Midland Bank has been involved in secret deals to save from bankruptcy the honourable Member for Bromsgrove; further notes that Mr Li Ka Shing, a donor of huge amounts to the Conservative Party in the past, sat on the board of HSBC for 10 years; and calls upon the Right honourable Member, the Minister without Portfolio, to state whether he has been involved in any discussions with Mr Li Ka Shing or any director of HSBC aimed at advancing the financial interest of any member of the Conservative Party.
