That this House considers scandalous the indifference of the Secretary of State for Health to the abuse of the system of payments to NHS Authority non executive directors of ú5,000 per annum at a total United Kingdom cost approaching ú40 million where for instance according to the documents issued by Mr K. Jones, Chairman of Doncaster Health, ú5,000 was paid to Mr S. Brown for two attendances, Mrs J. Stojak for two attendances, Mrs E. B. Harris for four attendances, Mrs J. Stevenson for four attendances and Mr T. Sly for four attendances; and demands a total review of the method of the appointment of directors and subsequent control of their work.
