Health Trust Chief Executives Severance Payments
EDM number 503 in 1995-96, proposed by Martin Redmond on 26/02/1996.
That this House continues to be dismayed at the lack of control and concern of Government ministers in respect of the massive severance payments by health trusts even to chief executives who resign, which has diverted many millions of pounds from health care; and cites as examples the payments of ú245,000 to Mrs Maggie Aikman, who after quitting 15 months ago now has a further ú50,000 per annum health authority post, and the pension package for Mr John O'Brien, who after resigning from the Wansbeck Trust was given a pension package reported to have cost ú500,000.
