Social Fund Mandatory Start-Up Grant
EDM number 49 in 1995-96, proposed by James Wallace on 16/11/1995.
That this House believes that the Social Fund fails to provide adequate assistance to people setting up home, causes severe hardship and thereby has a detrimental effect on rehousing and resettlement, and that it would make good social and financial sense to aid housing authorities and voluntary sector providers in their efforts to combat homelessness; and therefore calls on Her Majesty's Government to introduce into the Social Fund, at the earliest opportunity, a mandatory start-up grant for homeless people setting up home.
This motion has been signed by a total of 66 MPs.
