St DAVID'S DAY

EDM number 484 in 1995-96, proposed by Elfyn Llwyd on 21/02/1996.

That this House welcomes the petition organised by the school pupils of Ysgol y Moelwyn, Blaenau Ffestiniog, calling for recognition of 1st March as a national festival in Wales; congratulates the young people of Wales for taking the initiative in arranging this campaign; and calls on the Government to accept the wish of the majority of the people of Wales for fitting recognition of their national day and to declare St David's Day a bank holiday.
