Stalking

That this House notes that during the committee stage of the Criminal Justice and public Order Act 1994 an amendment to introduce a new offence of stalking, supported by the Labour members of the committee, was voted down by the Government; deplores the Government's failure to take the opportunity offered to them by the Labour members to provide protection for women subjected to obsessive and frightening harassment; and demands immediate legislative action.
