Conduct Of The Hon Member For Islington South And Labour Party Policy On Lenient Sentences;amdt. Line 1:
EDM number 378A1 in 1995-96, proposed by David Clelland on 07/02/1996.
leave out from `notes' to end and add `the claims regularly made by Conservative representatives including claims made on BBC television Question Time, about Labour Party policy on lenient sentences; notes that during the passage of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, to which the honourable Member for Islington South and Finsbury was referring the Labour Party did not oppose or vote against the right of appeal against lenient sentences; draws attention of honourable Members to the proceedings in Committee on 24th February 1994, at columns 988 and 1301, which confirm this; and expresses astonishment that Conservative honourable Members should be so unaware of the most recent record, and so reluctant to draw attention to the doubling of crime under the present Government.'.
This is a ammendment to 378.
