leave out from `and' and add `understands that, although some of those now serving in the House may be happy to receive today's salary, others like general secretaries of trade unions, heads of large London schools and chief executives of Labour controlled London boroughs, might more willing to seek to become honourable Members in competition with sitting honourable Members at a higher salary; and insists that higher pay should come into effect after the general election, except for those leaving the House, and that the salary should not be increased during a Parliament.'.
