Underground Arrangements At Heathrow For Visitors To The UK
EDM number 346 in 1995-96, proposed by DN Campbell-Savours on 29/01/1996.
That this House notes the extraordinary arrangements for thesale of underground tickets at London Heathrow; notes travellers from Manchester to London, including the honourable Member for Workington frequently spend more time waiting in a long winding queue to buy an underground ticket than they do on the aircraft flying; notes that staff shortages and generally poor organisation mean that only half the pay booths are open whilst frustrated and overworked staff take the brunt of public anger; believes that for many foreign travellers such appalling service from London Underground Ltd. provides their first experience of the United Kingdom; believes that first impressions invariably count; and calls upon London Transport to listen and act.
