Possibility Of Nuclear Waste Store In Cumbria

EDM number 34 in 1995-96, proposed by David Rendel on 15/11/1995.

That this House notes the report carried out by consultants W S Atkins for Her Majesty's Inspector of Pollution into the possible effects of radiation poisoning from the proposed nuclear waste store beneath Cumbria; notes the report's findings that drinking water could be contaminated and local people could be exposed to radiation doses 10,000 times higher than the legal maximum; and calls upon the Government to offer immediate assurances that no nuclear waste will be stored under Cumbria, or anywhere else, until it can be done without any fear of an increase in levels of radiation.

This motion has been signed by a total of 24 MPs.
