Yellow Cards:football
EDM number 322 in 1995-96, proposed by Tony Banks on 22/01/1996.
That this House notes with concern the growing practice for referees in Premier League matches to use yellow cards excessively; believes that whilst dirty play must never be tolerated, punishment should be appropriate, and indiscriminate use of yellow cards makes a mockery of discipline and can ruin a game as a spectacle; and further believes the current rules must be changed and an examination made of the possibility of using television cameras to assist referees in being both fair and firm in their decisions.
