That this House condemns the failure of the Millennium Commission to respond adequately to the proposal for a performing arts centre in Wales which would provide a permanent home for the internationally acclaimed Welsh National Opera Company as well as wide-ranging facilities for music, drama and the arts in Wales; notes the strength of support for the project in Wales and the indications of the Commission's own independent assessors of the potential of the project; regrets the failure of the Commissioners to recognize the importance of these facilities for Wales; and calls on the Chair of theCommission to re-open its consideration of the project with a view to ensuring a positive outcome.
