Contracting Out The Services Of The Patent Office In London

That this House notes and commends the work carried out by the Patent Office in London and the contribution it makes towards British industry and commerce; notes the decision to award the Patent Office the Charter Mark; deplores the Government's proposals to contract out their functions from the public sector and regrets the uncertainty this has caused; and urges the Government not to make any changes to the form and structure of the Patent Office in Chancery Lane and the City Road.
