Asylum Seekers From Nigeria
EDM number 2 in 1995-96, proposed by Paul Flynn on 15/11/1995.
That this House calls on the Secretary of State for Social Security to recognise Nigeria as a country which has undergone events likely to give rise to a well founded fear of persecution among its nationals, so that those applying for asylum while in the United Kingdom and who claim income support while their asylum application is being considered will not have their benefit cut off on 8th January 1996.
