Solent Motor Caravans

That this House is appalled that Mr Morrell of Solent Motorcaravans in Southampton which has gone into liquidation, can acquire ú750,000 by selling motorcaravans on a sale or return basis for 58 people, mainly retired, putting the proceeds into his own bank account, as present legislation does not require motorcaravan dealers to hold clients money in a separate account, keeping the proceeds and not paying the owners at all let alone within the stipulated 28 days of the sale; and therefore calls upon the Government to extend existing legislation and require motorcaravan dealers to use a separate client account which would prevent this type of fraud perpetrated by Mr Morrell of Solent Motorcaravans; and requests Hampshire Police who are investigating this serious fraud to bring to justice the accused as quickly as possible.
