NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL'S CONSULTATIVE PROCESS
EDM number 1250 in 1995-96, proposed by John Heppell on 15/10/1996.
That this House congratulates Nottinghamshire County Council on publishing its consultative document, A Question of Priorities, which follows lasts year's successful, Opening the Books, exercise, allowing the people of Nottinghamshire an opportunity to be fully informed about options available to deal with an anticipated reduction in real terms of council expenditure for the seventh successive year and to give them a say in which services should receive priority for protection during the budget process; believes this openness is an example of best practice; and urges other public bodies to adopt similar exercises to strenghten the democratic process.
This motion has been signed by a total of 10 MPs.
