Protection Of The Karen People

EDM number 1210 in 1995-96, proposed by Donald Anderson on 23/07/1996.

That this House urges Her Majesty's Government, not only on humanitarian principles but also because of the historic debt of Britain to the Karen and the Karenni peoples for their courageous conduct during the Second World War, to make representations, in co-operation with the United Kingdom's EU partners, to the Thai Government to protect and in no way harass the approximately 115,000 people who fled from Burma and now live in border camps within Thailand.

This motion has been signed by a total of 30 MPs.
