Area Traffic Offices

EDM number 1188 in 1995-96, proposed by Dafydd Wigley on 17/07/1996.

That this House takes note of the threatened closure by the Department of Transport of the area traffic offices serving Wales which are currently based in Cardiff and Manchester; condemns this further example of centralisation by the Tory government, which it proposes despite heavier rates of unemployment and the specific transport infrastructure needs of Wales; notes that Scotland will continue to be served by a National office based in Edinburgh; calls for the setting up of an all-Wales office of the Department of Transport; and concludes that this latest act of arrogance by London Government underlines the need for a democratic Parliament for Wales.

This motion has been signed by a total of 16 MPs.
