Balance Of Welsh Industrial Investment

EDM number 1146 in 1995-96, proposed by Alan Williams on 10/07/1996.

That this House congratulates Newport and South East Wales on its new investment; points out, however, that increasingly the benefits of the two Severn Bridges and of Government spending programmes mean that South West Wales is ignored by incoming manufacturing investors; notes that a serious imbalance is developing, not only in terms of the number of jobs but also in the quality of jobs in a westward direction; and affirms that the people of Swansea and South West Wales do not wish to deprive the South East triangle of any growth in prospects and prosperity but want policies to enable them to share in these prospects.

This motion has been signed by a total of 27 MPs.
