EDM number 1099 in 1995-96, proposed by Neil Gerrard on 04/07/1996.
That this House offers its congratulations to the Trades Union Congress for organising the free summer festival Respect for Unite Against Racism in Finsbury Park on 20th July; congratulates the TUC for recording its first single, a cover of the Otis Redding classic, Respect, by the United Against Racism choir; urges all honourable Members to go out and buy a copy of the record which is available from 8th July onwards; congratulates the unions, the firms such as British Telecom, Marks and Spencer, British Airways, Fords, CCSB, Littlewoods, The Body Shop, Time Out, United Utilities, Smurfit, Rexam, and many others whose generosity and support have made the festival possible; and believes that music and dance are a wonderful way to communicate this important message.
