Historic County Boundaries

EDM number 109 in 1995-96, proposed by Peter Thurnham on 24/11/1995.

That this House notes that 27th November is the 700th anniversary of the arrival of the first Lancashire honourable Members, Matteus de Redman and Johannes de Eywas, at Westminster; recognises the distinct loyalties which are still felt to the historic county of Lancashire; and calls on local councils to signpost the traditional boundaries of Lancashire and of the other historic counties of England such as Westmorland, Yorkshire and Cheshire.
